Staying safe

The handful of habits that prevent almost every loss.

Nobody needs your code

Viru signs you in with a code sent to your email. No one from Viru will ever ask you for that code, for a password, or for a recovery phrase. Anyone who does is trying to steal from you.

Read the window before you sign

Every transaction shows what it does before you approve it. If a window appears that you didn't expect, close it. If the amounts don't match what you typed, cancel.

Verify the address, and the network

When sending crypto to your Viru wallet, copy it from the Wallet tab (Add money) and check the first and last few characters after pasting. Send on the matching network. Try a small amount first if it's your first time.

Counterfeit tokens exist

Anyone can create a token called USDC. Viru only shows tokens whose addresses are confirmed by two independent sources, and hides anything it can't confirm. The token page shows the verified address and a link to the block explorer so you can check it yourself.

Education only. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
