Every fee, explained

Who gets paid when you swap, and what Viru charges (nothing).

Network fee

Every blockchain transaction pays the network's validators a small fee, in the chain's own coin: ETH on Base, Arbitrum and Optimism, POL on Polygon, BNB on BNB Chain, SOL on Solana. On the EVM networks this is usually a fraction of a cent, and when you pay with cash it is simply taken out of the cash. On Solana, when you pay the fee yourself, Viru includes a flat 0.001 SOL tip so the transaction lands reliably.

On Solana, Viru pays a trade's network fee when it can; a send, or a trade it can't cover, needs a little SOL. On Base, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon you only need ETH (or POL) when you send coins out, sell the network's own coin, or sell a token that first needs a permission sent from your wallet. BNB Chain is different: Viru doesn't use the route that takes the fee out of the coin you trade there, because most of its coins would need a permission sent from your wallet, paid in BNB, before every sale anyway. So its trades and sends all pay a small fee in BNB.

When your wallet has almost none of the coin a transaction needs on Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon or BNB Chain, Viru can add the few cents it takes, right before you sign, within daily limits. It goes only to your own wallet, and you still review and sign the transaction yourself. Selling the network's own coin is never covered: you already hold it.

Routing fee

On the EVM networks, 0x charges a fee for finding the route, taken out of the trade and shown on every preview. On Base it is 0.15% of the swap, the same rate on every token. On Solana, the route Viru uses charges no fee.

Viru fee

None. Viru charges nothing on swaps and receives nothing from the services it routes through. If that ever changes, it will be shown on the review screen before you sign, and it will be the same for every token.

One-time account deposit on Solana

The first time your Solana wallet holds a new token, the network sets aside about 0.002 SOL to create the account that holds it. It's a deposit, not a fee: it comes back if the account is ever closed.
